Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 Officially Announced – Release Date, Screenshots Revealed

Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2

The first season of Telltale Games’ Minecraft: Story Mode finally attached a full length story to the popular Mojang game, combining the character-focused storytelling of Telltale, and the rich, pixelated world of Minecraft. The episodic series went on to receive large amount of praise from critics and fans alike for its fun use of the source material. Hot on the heels of the title’s potential rating earlier this week, Telltale and Mojang have now officially announced Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2, along with an official release date.

The new season of Minecraft: Story Mode will continue the story first told in the original game, which followed a gang of blocky misfits surviving the equal parts creative and dangerous world of Minecraft. Story Mode Season 2 may be rewarding to players returning for the new adventure, but Telltale seems keen on making the game accessible to newcomers as well, introducing the “Crowd Play” feature, which allows others to tag along on the main campaign with a mobile device. More about the story can be read in the official description below:

“Now that Jesse and the gang have vanquished the Wither Storm, saved the world, and become totally super famous heroes, life has gotten a bit more…complicated. With more responsibilities and less time for adventure, old friendships have started to fade — at least until Jesse’s hand gets stuck in a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple. Together with old pals and new comrades alike, Jesse embarks on a brand new journey filled with tough choices, good times, and at least one temperamental llama.”

Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Ashley Johnson, and Scott Porter are all set to their reprise their roles as Jesse, Petra, and Lukas respectively, with a few surprise Minecraft YouTubers adding to the game’s voice cast as well. The first episode of Season 2 titled “Hero In Residence” will be available for Android, iOS, Mac, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 11th, with additional episodes set to release further down the line. An official retail disc is also set for a fall 2017 release. More details involving additional casting, Crowd Play, and the first trailer are expected to be revealed soon, especially with E3 just around the corner, so stay tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers for the latest.
