It looks like the live-action Metal Gear Solid movie may have just taken one big step out of development hell. A new report has come in stating that Oscar Isaac (Star Wars VII-IX, Dune) has been cast as Solid Snake in the upcoming film, which has been in various stages of pre-development for the past few years. The film is in development under Sony Pictures and helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

The news comes by way of the folks over at Deadline, which revealed that sources confirmed that Oscar Isaac is now attached to play Solid Snake in the live-action Metal Gear Solid film. As one would expect given the title, the movie will be based on the video game of the same name created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami. Avi Arad is producing the film, with a script written by Derek Connolly.

As for when the movie will actually enter production, that’s currently anyone’s guess. Oscar Isaac’s latest upcoming role will have him star opposite Jessica Chastain in HBO’s Scenes From A Marriage, after which he’ll be entering into the MCU playing the titular role in Marvel’s Moon Knight for Disney+. If that isn’t enough to keep him busy, Isaac will also be taking to the big screen in the upcoming reboot of Dune.

It’s important to note that this casting is by no means confirmed, though if Deadline’s sources are to be believed then we’ll likely see an official confirmation soon. The Metal Gear Solid movie is currently in early development.
