Marvel’s Avengers Will Be Free To Upgrade To PS5, Xbox Series X

Marvel's Avengers PS5 Irion Man

Considering the game’s incredible delay, it seems like ages since Marvel’s Avengers has received a proper showing. Though the game sports a lovely roster of Marvel’s most mighty heroes (including the refreshing likes of Kamala Khan), the full scope of the action-packed title has still yet to be divulged ahead of its scheduled September release. However, with the advent of an upcoming “War Table” livestream, it appears fans will finally get the details they’ve been craving, with Square Enix recently confirming the game will be compatible with next-generation consoles ahead of the big event.

Revealed in a new press release, Marvel’s Avengers was confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X alongside releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. With next-gen looming, users were assured a free upgrade upon the launch of next-gen consoles, allowing players to migrate to the new Sony and Microsoft hardware at no extra charge. Keeping in line with Xbox’s Smart Delivery program, save files will carry over to the PS5 and Series X along with quite a few visual and performance upgrades to the original. As a bonus, the Avengers title will also support cross-generation multiplayer with players on PS4/PS5 as well as Xbox One/Series X.

Though there’s likely to be no shortage of enhancements available for the Xbox Series X, it appears fans can expect quite the array on the Sony side of things. In addition to an “enhanced graphics” mode for the next-gen release, the PlayStation Blog confirms Marvel’s Avengers will assemble with support for 60 FPS as well as “dynamic 4K resolution.” The formidable hardware offered by the PS5 also grants players several other improvements such as “nearly instant” load speeds, 3D audio capabilities, as well as interactive haptic feedback and adaptive triggers found in the console’s new DualSense controller.

With the much-hyped War Table livestream coming up very soon, hype is sure to be permeating among fans of the Square Enix superhero title. Not only is the showcase expected to debut some all-new gameplay, but also significant insight on how campaign and co-op will operate, character-specific details, nifty new story footage, as well as a teased surprise or two.

Marvel’s Avengers is set to release September 4th for Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X becoming available sometime in Holiday 2020.
