Mafia III’s Third DLC Introduces The Ensanglante – Release Date Revealed (VIDEO)
Mafia III’s third DLC will also be its last, featuring a darker and more twisted New Bordeaux than players have yet to see. In Sign of the Times, Lincoln Clay will be tasked with investigating a “brutal, Manson-esque, counter-culture cult” called the Ensanglante who have come out of the swamps of New Bordeaux. A new trailer gives fans an inside look at what to expect from the DLC and the cult which serves as its focus. Check out the latest content update in the their latest video below,
There’s a a dark and deranged new world, soaked with violence and drugs hiding just below the surface of New Bordeaux. Lincoln Clay will find himself pulled into this world and his grip on reality will be challenged as Mafia III’s third DLC progresses. The Ensanglante have risen from the swamps preforming disturbing ceremonies such as ritual of blood or human sacrifices. They preform these rituals in places of “great tragedy” such as Sammy’s Bar where the DLC begins.
Players will encounter the cult at Sammy’s and become the caretaker of the lone survivor of one of the cult’s ceremonies. From there, they’ll be tasked with investigating and taking down the bloody cult using new items such as a blacklight flashlight to uncover clues to the Ensanglante’s true motives. Unlike the previous DLC’s and the main campaign, Sign of the Times will be slower according to Ed Fowler, Mafia III’s Senior Writer.
From the moment that the “Sign of the Times” DLC kicks off, you’re in for more deliberate pacing. There’s a mystery to solve with Lincoln searching for stray objects left behind, strange writing – you’ll even examine bodies for clues. By eyeballing the environment and using a blacklight flashlight to uncover hints, you’ll zero in on where The Ensanglante operate and what the hell their endgame is for New Bordeaux. At key points in this DLC, we have these investigation zones where you’ll methodically look for clues that reveal more of the truth… and it can quickly turn a corner where you’ll be dealing with cult members in tense firefights.”
Bill Harms also weighed in on this last DLC explaining just how different it is than the rest of the title,
I see each of the DLC stories as three different journeys for Lincoln and how he’s wrestling with his own grief and finding a way forward. You have someone like Lincoln who felt powerless in stopping the betrayal early in the game. In “Sign of the Times,” you have him finding someone who needs help – that’s not able to put the pieces of the puzzle together – and he can actually do something for her.”
Sign of the Times will be available for players to pick up on July 25th and is part of the season pass at the price of $30. Individual pricing has yet to be determined however previous DLC packs have been set at $15. Also be sure to check out the game’s previous two DLC packs: Faster, Baby takes players to the outskirts of New Bordeaux with “fast cars, dramatic chases, and epic stunt driving” as Lincoln joins forces with Roxy Laveau to take a corrupt sheriff. Stones Unturned, which sees Clay helping out his war buddy and CIA handler John Donovan by taking on an old rival to settle a years-long blood-feud.
