LEGO Star Wars Battles Shuts Down Indefinitely Before Full Release
There are a lot of games under the LEGO franchise such as its iconic Star Wars series that has provided fans with joy for many, many years now. The majority of its titles are fairly similar, allowing players to embody various characters within a world with each housing unique abilities and tasking fans with exploration and puzzle-solving. LEGO Star Wars Battles on the other hand was a mobile title that allowed players to compete against others in PvP tower defense fights in a unique manner of interacting with the LEGO Star Wars universe. Sadly, that freshness wasn’t to last, as the title is now shut down as of this month.
Back in September of 2019 LEGO Star Wars Battles had a soft launch and was being beta-tested in various countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden, Malaysia. Though the title remained in a beta state ever since, Playdemic announced to fans earlier this year that LEGO Star Wars Battles would be shutting down for good on July 1st. Players were encouraged to spend whatever funds they currently had in the in-game store ahead of the cancellation, with devs apologizing for the game’s impending closure.

It’s unclear as to why the LEGO Star Wars Battles was shut down as there has yet to be a full statement from the developer concerning the closure. Playdemic was acquired by EA earlier this year, so it’s possible that the publisher decided the title wasn’t worth continuing, perhaps in favor of some other project. Whatever the case may be, fans are no longer able to experience what LEGO Star Wars Battles had to offer. Did you participate in the game’s Beta period?
