Dragon Age Netflix Series Reportedly In Development

Although Dragon Age wasn’t present at the recent EA Play event, the folks over at BioWare assured its fans earlier in the month that they’re hard at work on the next game in the series. That doesn’t appear to be the only franchise-related project in the works, either, as a new report has revealed that a Dragon Age Netflix series is reportedly in development.

As reported by Giant Freakin Robot, a Dragon Age Netflix series is in “actively development” for the popular streaming platform. The site notes that this is from a “trusted and proven source”, though no further explanation or credibility is given. As for what the series could look like, it’s currently anyone’s guess. It’s possible that Netflix may choose to straight-up adapt one of the games, but it’s even more likely that we’ll see some sort of spin-off tale that has already been touched upon in series lore. This has already been done with Cassandra’s origin story in Dawn of the Seeker, so it wouldn’t be the first series adaptation to follow such a template.

Given Netflix’s track record, a Dragon Age Netflix series would likely be animated. Netflix has had a fair amount of success with animated adaptations for Castlevania, Dragon’s Dogma, and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, not to mention the many other adaptations currently in development. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to add Dragon Age to that list.

As always, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, it would be pretty cool to see Dragon Age on the small screen, especially since a Netflix series would likely release sooner than Dragon Age 4.
