Left 4 Dead VR Game Rumored To Be In The Works

Left 4 Dead 3

There’s a running joke within the gaming community that Valve can’t count to three. Very few of the developer’s franchises such as Half-Life, Team Fortress, or even Portal never seem to make it to the third iteration of their series. Though a second sequel still hasn’t come to the likes of Half-Life, Valve recently revealed they are working on making a new VR title featuring Alyx. With that in mind, it seems the company may also be looking to offer the same treatment for the Left 4 Dead franchise.

Numerous rumors have appeared over the years claiming that Left 4 Dead 3 is on the way, but many have proven false or failed to gain enough traction with the online community. However, a substantial rumor has now arrived from Valve-focused YouTuber Valve News Network, a Twitter post from the user suggesting the company may have the zombie shooter in mind for the VR world. Whether or not the title is currently being worked on or is simply in the planning stages is unclear, but a follow-up post teases more conclusive details will come forward about the project “soon.”

With Valve back to making games and with a focus toward VR, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some of the studio’s new projects take the form of fan-favorite IPs. Seeing a new VR entry in the Left 4 Dead franchise would be interesting in itself, but it’s probably best to keep expectations low as there’s still no way of knowing what developers ultimately intend to do. That being said, if Valve ends up actually making a Left 4 Dead VR title, it could perhaps lead to even more series entries later down the line.
