Director James Gunn Issues Statement After Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Reveal
Marvel fans are likely questioning their reality following this week’s turn of events. Not only were fans greeted with a new Captain Marvel-inclusive Avengers Endgame trailer, but today saw Marvel’s surprising reinstatement of Guardians of the Galaxy series director (and Suicide Squad 2 writer) James Gunn following his sudden firing back in 2018.
After a long saga of social media drama and behind-the-scenes meetings, Disney has finally seen fit to bring back James Gunn, having forgiven his past of offensive tweeting and given him a second chance. This huge decision has not only set the indefinitely-delayed film back on track, but also marked the filmmaker’s return to social media after months of radio silence. In his returning Twitter post, Gunn thanked all who supported him and pledged commitment to being a better human being.

I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be. I deeply appreciate Disney’s decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all.”
