Hunt: Showdown Releasing On PlayStation 4 This February
Initially announced under a different name and concept in 2014, Hunt: Showdown was eventually changed into the glorious PvPvE nightmare fuel that it is today. The game did quite well for itself as an Early Access title on Steam and was later released in full last year for PC and Xbox One. Now the title is going to be branching out even further to the PlayStation 4, along with the power to play with friends across multiple platforms.
A recent developer update explains that Crytek is going to be working with a new publisher named Koch Media who will not only be responsible for the retail and digital releases across the globe, but they’ll also have a part in releasing Hunt: Showdown onto the PlayStation 4. With Koch Media’s help, Crytek will be able to spend more of their time focusing on developing and improving the game itself.
The update explains that the team already has plenty of plans to bring new Legendary Hunters, equipment, weapons, random three-person matchmaking, and even a new advanced tutorial alongside server-side updates and quality of life fixes coming in the next patch. Beyond the 1.2 update the post states that there will some interesting things to come including cross-play capabilities between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, a solo PvE game mode, live events, outfit customization, and a new map.
Hunt: Showdown is described as a competitive PvP bounty hunting title with heavy PvE elements. Players enter each match trying to track down and banishing their AI targets before extracting with their bounty, all the while fighting against a variety of frightening creatures and other teams of players alike. Hunt: Showdown is set to arrive on February 18th for PlayStation 4.
