Harry Potter RPG Coming To Next-Gen Consoles In 2021, Sources Say
The next generation of video game consoles has many excited for the end of the year when the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles are set to arrive. With these devices, many are wondering what big new titles will be released to encourage the purchase of these devices. This speculation includes long-rumored titles such as the mysterious Harry Potter RPG, which previously saw leaked footage and made people question whether or not it would ever become a reality. Well, thanks to some mysterious figures on the inside, it would appear that this Harry Potter game will indeed be coming next year for next-gen consoles.
Bloomberg recently reported on information given to them by two anonymous sources from Warner Bros. Interactive. According to these sources, the Harry Potter RPG is being developed at Avalanche Software in Salt Lake City, with the intention of releasing the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X sometime in 2021. The game will feature a massive open-world version of Hogwarts that players can explore as they become a student of witchcraft and wizardry. The game seems to be the same one from leaked footage found in 2018 and is one of the biggest titles in development backed by Warner Bros. Interactive, alongside a new Batman game expected to be announced at the upcoming DC FanDome digital event.
What is most interesting about these updates on the Harry Potter RPG is that they come not long after transphobic comments from original book series author J.K. Rowling recently went viral. Bloomberg’s two mystery sources felt the need to comment about J.K. Rowling’s involvement with the game, which has been fairly minimal so far. However, especially given these recent comments, Warner Bros. may likely encourage that distance to continue. This RPG has had an interesting journey of revelation so far, despite not even being officially announced yet. Hopefully, the game’s announcement comes soon and more official details become revealed. It’s time for this Chamber of Secrets to finally be opened.
