Halo: Lone Wolf First Look Shows Off Spartan Linda-058 & Her Nemesis

Halo Lone Wolf Cropped

Back in October, Dark Horse Comics and 343 Industries debuted the first cover image for the upcoming Halo: Lone Wolf comic series. Today, they provided a sneak peak at the exciting new story from writer Anne Toole (The Witcher, Horizon Zero Dawn).

In an exclusive with ComicBook, Dark Horse dropped a new synopsis and four pages from series’ first issue. The plot summary provides some fresh insight into the characters and conflicts of Halo: Lone Wolf.

“With Dr. Chen, a dangerous ex-ONI scientist, in her sights, Spartan Linda-058 and her AI companion must find a way to end the threat posed by Chen and evacuate the endangered humans in the settlement. But as the Covenant prepare to stage an assault, Linda discovers that Chen holds the key to a secret that could endanger all of humanity if it fell into the wrong hands.”

The four pages show off some Spartans training and a closer look at the comic’s characters. We meet our protagonist Linda-058, another Spartan named Kelly, and the villainous Dr. Chen Bax.

The pages represent the building blocks of what should be a phenomenal comic series. Given her experience on The Witcher and Horizon, Toole certainly understands the importance of character building in massive worlds. The relationships between Linda, Kelly, and the rest of Lone Wolf’s characters should help infuse emotion into the world of Halo.

Joining Toole are artists Kieren McKewon (White Canvas) and JL Straw (Back to the Future). Dan Jackson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Call of Duty: Zombies) provided the colors. They certainly showed off their skills on the first issue’s cover, and these pages prove it wasn’t a one off. The quality of the Spartan weapons and armor speak volumes to their attention to detail. Both the art and the story indicate this will be one hell of a comic series.

Halo: Lone Wolf releases January 2, 2019. The series is now available for preorders and should make any Halo fan happy this holiday season.
