God Of War Ragnarok Actor Takes Blame For Delay, Praises Sony

Sony has cemented their position at the top of the gaming industry with their PlayStation platforms, with exclusive original games being perhaps the biggest key to their current success. One of Sony’s most successful exclusive first-party games on the PlayStation 4 was God of War, which acted as a sequel and soft reboot for the series. Excitement has been high for the sequel, God of War: Ragnarok, though the game has bit hit with significant delays thus far, now pushing the game to a 2022 release. Now, a God of War: Ragnarok actor has spoken to take the blame for the delay.

God of War: Ragnarok actor Christopher Judge recently shared some vulnerable tweets on his official Twitter account. Before these tweets, much of the gaming industry has assumed that God of War: Ragnarok had been delayed due to complications in development from employees working remotely caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Well, according to these tweets from Judge, the actor faced significant physical issues that required a variety of surgeries, which prevented him from performing his motion-capture acting duties properly. This part of the development timeline happened months before the pandemic even began.

The God of War: Ragnarok actor follows up by suggesting that Sony and the Santa Monica studio specifically were very understanding and accommodating Judge based off of his physical needs with much grace. Judge expresses his gratitude to the company for their treatment of him and the rest of the crew, suggesting that other studios could learn from their example. It’s been clear before that Sony and the Santa Monica studio put much care into their games, but it’s great to see that that passion extends into compassion as well for their employees and talent. Hopefully, Ragnarok isn’t the end of the world, or the end of Judge’s time at Sony either.
