Genshin Impact Has "More Celebrations" Planned Following Anniversary Backlash

For a while there it seemed as if Genshin Impact developer miHoYo was ignoring its player base, which has up in arms the past month or so due to the notably lackluster 1-year anniversary celebration comprised of paltry gifts and RNG-based community events. Thankfully the developer has finally broken its silence, revealing that the studio has been listening to fan feedback and has “already come up with more celebrations” that will hopefully put a stop to all that rioting in the streets of Inazuma.

In a recent statement sent to GamesRadar+, Genshin Impact developer miHoYo noted that the team has been listening to its players and have additional 1-year anniversary goodies planned. “We’ve been paying close attention to various feedback regarding Genshin Impact’s first anniversary,” the statement reads. “We’ve already come up with more celebrations including the coming Genshin Impact online concert and thank-you gifts to express our gratitude for players’ support all the way along.”

The opinions and feedback from players and fans are really valuable to us, and we wish all fans will continue the adventure and collect more cherished memories in Teyvat.”

The news comes just days after players were sent a surprise “thank you” gift of 400 primogems and a free glider skin, the latter of which was thought to be releasing at some point in the near future in a paid-for bundle. The mail attached to the gifts was shown to be “1 of 4” so it appears that miHoYo is committed to earning back the loyalty of its players. The fact that the developer has been quiet on the matter these past few weeks is concerning, though, so there’s every possibility that this was a last-minute decision on their part in order to avoid further backlash from the community. Either way, free primogems are always nice.

Genshin Impact is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, and Android & iOS devices.
