This Gender-Bent Mercy Concept Art Has Captured The Internet’s Heart
If there’s anything in this world that gamers can count on, it’s got to be that Overwatch fans will always go that extra mile to turn every little thing to do with the first person shooter into something bigger. Step aside Whovians and Sherlockians because the Overwatch fandom is coming through and their next favorite thing to squeal about is a piece of Mercy concept art. This piece from The Art of Overwatch shows an initial concept of the healer, that may be a lot different than anyone ever imagined. In this previous version, Mercy was actually a dude… a super attractive dude.

As the reader can see above, this original piece of Mercy concept art shows that at some point, the support character was male. The uniform is still very similar to what we see now with white armor, wings, and the Caduceus staff that Mercy is known for. The character himself is much different though with white and black hair, thick muscles, chiseled jaw…. wait, what were we talking about? Anyway, the fandom was quick to fall in love and have even started creating fan art for the Mercy that could’ve been.
