Microsoft’s E3 presentation this year gave fans a good look at the next installment in the Gears of War franchise, introducing the upcoming title’s surprise lead found in Kait Diaz. Now Gearbox has teased even more about the upcoming Gears 5 title introducing a new character and a new weapon variation.

Thanks to a recent Tweet from the official Gears of War account, or “Gears,” a new screenshot has surfaced which features three characters. One of these Gears is Marcus Fenix’s son James who was the lead protagonist of Gears of War 4 and standing on his right is Del Walker who first appeared in the same game. The third character on the left of J.D. is named Fahz Chutani, a fresh face to the franchise and in his hands is a new Lancer variant.

So far there’s no word as to what role Chutani will have within the story. Also unknown at this time is what changes will come to the iconic Gears rifle. Perhaps more information will arrive soon concerning the two curiousities.

Gears 5 was introduced with two other Gears titles, a kid-friendly mobile game called Gears Pop and a PC strategy game called Gears Tactics, however the next main installment in the franchise is the most anticipated. The upcoming AAA game doesn’t have a release date yet however it is expected to arrive sometime in 2019.
