Fortnite: New Limited Time Mode Revealed – Solo Showdown Coming Soon

Fortnite

We’ve said it before, and we will say it again: Fortnite is on a world domination spree. With limited time events, the most recent bringing Thanos to the game, a variety of modes, fun cosmetics and emotes, and so much more, the title is a blast to play for many. That being said, it was recently rumored that a new mode would be arriving soon, offering a more competitive environment for solo players. Well, that very thing has been revealed by Epic.

Taking to their website, the developer outlined some details about the upcoming limited time mode called Solo Showdown. Simply put, this will take the score from a player’s first 50 solo matches in the limited time mode, and if they place in the top 100, they get a prize! Here’s more about the upcoming Solo Showdown:

Trying to prove yourself on the battlefield? Queue up for the Solo Showdown mode for a hotly contested Battle Royale experience. Unlike other LTMs, Solo Showdown will not change core gameplay of the current Solo mode. Instead, you will be placed against other self-selected competitors making this the ultimate test of survival.”

AWARDS:

1st Place:  50,000 V-Bucks

2nd – 4th  Place:  25,000 V-Bucks

5th – 50th Place:  13,500 V-Bucks

51st – 100th Place:  7,500 V-Bucks

It also appears that Epic Games is using this Fortnite mode to see how they can build larger events moving forward. They said, “We’ll be using the Solo Showdown as a one-off stepping stone to learn how to build great events for all types of players. If you crave testing and improving your own skills, give it a try and let us know what you think. To thank you for participating, play 50 games and get a unique spray.”

As stated above, the first 50 matches in Solo Showdown will determine where a player is placed in the rankings. The contest is available right now, and will be until 10am EST on May 21, 2018.
