Epic Games Is Looking Into Adding a Fortnite Respawn Feature

Fortnite Battle Royale

As Fortnite Battle Royale continues to grow with each season, more and more features are added into the game such as weapons, skins, mechanics, and improved gameplay mechanics.  With Season 7 coming to a close it’s time to look ahead at what’s to come for the title, and it seems this time around Epic Games might be looking to adopt an incredible feature that fans seem to really be a fan of in another popular battle royale title: Apex Legends.

Within a recent AMA on Reddit, Epic Games mentions that the developers have been looking at adding in a respawn feature, something that is done incredibly well in Respawn’s take of the genre. “We’ve been considering this mechanic for a while and have been exploring it,” they mentioned. “Want to make sure we give it the time it needs and fully understand its impact on the game as a whole. Look for further updates during Season 8.?”

While many battle royale titles allow teammates to pick up downed allies, once they’re dead they stay that way until the end of the game. Apex Legends’s respawn feature however allows players to pick up their fallen comrades and deliver them to respawn beacons scattered throughout the map. Once used, these beacons become inactive so while they are useful they don’t overwhelm players with the ability to revive indefinitely.

As far as Fortnite Battle Royale is concerned, the developers did play around with a respawn feature however it was only during a limited time event. Fans have been hoping for more permenant solution, and it looks like they might finally be ready to get the ball rolling.

Fortnite Battle Royale is available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and even mobile devices with Season 8 set to arrive on February 28th. Will adding a respawn feature into the game be a benefit or will it be detrimental to construction-based shooter?
