Fortnite Loot Lake Island Makes Contact With Rune (VIDEO)

Fortnite Floating Island Makes Contact With First Rune

The commencement of Fortnite Season 6 began with a bang this past week when Loot Lake proceeded to rise into the sky and change the very landscape of the game’s map. New locations such as Haunted Castle and Corn Fields were zapped into existence, as were several “Corrupted Areas” spawned out of Fortnite’s infamous purple cube nicknamed “Kevin.” These wealth of changes would seem to be where things would settle, but that pesky prism is now on the move once again and it’s taking Loot Lake along for the ride.

Propelled by a cube-generated tornado, the floating island began moving away from its former body of water earlier yesterday, having made a considerable journey eastward in the time since. The trajectory lined up perfectly with a Corrupted Area near Pleasant Park, suggesting something big for when the two land masses eventually made contact. Upon reaching the destination, a series of glowing volcanic vents would appear out of the ground, followed by the rune itself dramatically rising into the air. Check it out below.

One would assume pits of lava would be an extreme cause for concern considering, you know, it’s lava. However, this is no ordinary magma, as it causes an unexpected bouncy effect not unlike the former Loot Lake or the Cube itself.

While this event would be enough to baffle the average Fortnite player, an extra source of mystery would appear on the upper side island as well. Found just underneath the Loot Lake house are a series of blocky growths surely sourced from the assimilated rune. The purple ore is unable to be mined or destroyed, seeming to serve no other purpose than to further frustrate players. Why do you curse us, Kevin?!

What this all amounts to is currently up in the air, putting the true meaning of all this randomness firmly over the heads of everyone except Epic Games. It’s likely the remaining runes will share in a similar fate, but what might eventually happen after all of the pits are uncovered is where the real speculation lies. Will the extent of Season 6’s darkness be revealed? Probably. Fortnite is now available on Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.

What do you think? Are you once again caught in the web of speculation that is Fortnite, or are you confused now more than ever?
