Fortnite Devs Teasing New Avengers Endgame Crossover Event

Avengers 4 Finally Reveals First Trailer, Official Title (VIDEO)

The battle royale genre currently features oodles of iterations these days, with everyone from DICE’s Battlefield V to Respawn’s Apex Legends providing unique spins on the well traveled mode. However, even after this recent dose of healthy competition, Epic Games Fortnite continues to dominate due to a solid player base, regular content updates, and often bizarre events to help shake up proceedings.

One of the more miraculous events to have hit the Epic shooter happened last year in a collaboration with Marvel, introducing Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War as a special playable character. With Marvel’s concluding sequel Avengers Endgame dropping later this month, it now appears that a follow-up crossover event may be on the way. An apparent tease on the part of Epic Games Creative Director Donald Mustard has fueled this speculation, a Tweet depicting ‘Endgame’ actor Robert Downey Jr. with the message “See you soon!”.

On the surface, a post such as this could seem pretty innocuous, especially as Mustard’s message could easily indicate his plans to see Avengers Endgame sometime “soon.” However, the fact that Iron Man is decked out head-to-toe with full Fortnite gear may suggest something else is happening, especially considering how popular the first Marvel crossover turned out to be.

As the first Avengers Fortnite event solely featured Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet in a playable capacity, Mustard’s tease could suggest a different avenue for this next collaboration. The post’s specific reference of Robert Downey Jr. may mean players might have access to the armored Avenger rather than a repeat of the Mad Titan’s beastly gameplay. Of course that’s just speculation on our part, as no Marvel event has yet been confirmed in any capacity.

Fortnite is out now for Android, iOS, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
