Final Fantasy XIV Live-Action Series Will Have “Chocobos Out The Wazoo”
Square Enix’s MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV is still going strong, with the latest upcoming patch introducing the NieR: Automata-inspired raid and loads of other content. Meanwhile, it looks like the Final Fantasy XIV live-action series for the game is also picking up steam, with a new report revealing that the show will feature…well, a whole lot of chocobos.
In production by the folks over at Hivemind (also responsible for Amazon’s The Expanse and Netflix’s The Witcher series), co-founder Dinesh Shamdasani recently spoke to the folks at IGN about the upcoming live-action Final Fantasy XIV series. Fans worried about a lack of certain Final Fantasy elements apparently needn’t be too concerned, as the according to Shamdasani the series will feature a “gratuitous amount of chocobos.”
“Literally, there was no draft of the script that does not have the note, ‘More chocobos,'” said Shamdasani, laughing. “One of the notes that I gave, I gave this note and I got the worst stink eye in a meeting. I said, ‘Guys, I know everyone wants chocobos. Page 3 someone rides in on a chocobo for no reason. It’s distracting. It’s silly. It’s too early.”‘And everyone’s like, ‘What are you talking about? Everyone should be riding on chocobos in the opening’… So no, there’ll be chocobos out the wazoo.”
The series is still early in development, though at least the creative minds behind it have a good handle on what the fans will be looking for. The Final Fantasy XIV live-action series is now in development.
