Final Fantasy VII Remake's Yuffie Episode Will Feature New Summons And Materia

Late last month the folks over at Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the official PS5 version of the remake that somehow manages to shove Yuffie into Midgar early on in the game by way of her own episodic content. As the Wutai ninja will be operating separately from the main party, she will have unique tools to aid her in her mission to infiltrate Midgar and obtain – what else – some rare materia. To that end, it’s been revealed that Yuffie will have access to new summons and materia not found in the base remake.

The news comes by way of a recent Famitsu interview with Tetsuya Nomura, wherein the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade director speaks at length about the new PS5 version of the game as well as the two Final Fantasy VII mobile games currently in development. When asked if Intergrade adds in any new materia or summons in comparison to the base PS4 version, Nomura confirms that to be the case, though only in the new Yuffie episode.

One other important thing to note is that, according to Nomura, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was less about a cash grab and more about preparing the team to work on Part 2 of the remake on the PlayStation 5. Prepping the base game for the PS5 as well as developing the Yuffie content helped the Square Enix team make a smooth transition to working on the remake’s sequel. As such, no further DLC for Intergrade is planned at this time, with the team giving “top priority” to part 2.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade releases for the PS5 on June 10th, 2021.
