Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 Will "leverage The Vastness Of The World"

With Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 now in full production, news about the sequel has begun to trickle out from Square Enix, albeit at a snail’s pace. Still, we’ll take something over nothing. With Cloud and friends having left Midgar for the open road, fans of the original game already know what should come next in the party’s journey, though many questions still remain. In the meantime, it’s been revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 will explore the “vastness of the world.”

In a recent interview with IGN, Final Fantasy VII Remake co-director Naoki Hamaguchi spoke a bit about what fans can expect from Part 2 of the remake series. One of the main focal points of the discussion revolved around the party’s departure from the confines of Midgar into the open world, something the team is looking to leverage as Cloud and friends move away from the city. According to Hamaguchi, the “next installment will involve Cloud and company to leave Midgar and explore the world,” and that “our next challenge will be to create gameplay that leverages the vastness of the world.”

While it is unclear at this time whether Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 will feature a traditional open world, there will at the very least be an openness to the environment that will stand as a beautiful comparison to the confines of Midgar. It’s certainly something to look forward to, the main question now is exactly how long will Square Enix make us wait?

Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 is currently in full production.
