Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Reveals New Gameplay Details, Episode Yuffie's Official Name

Fans of the original Final Fantasy VII know that, while Yuffie doesn’t get a whole lot of story time, the content she is in is rather impactful, if even just for the simple fact that rearranging your party’s materia following the Wutai incident is a pain in the butt. Square Enix is shaking things up a bit for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, with Yuffie initially setting out on her own – and at a safe distance from your party’s hard-earned materia – in a bid to infiltrate Midgar and steal the “ultimate Materia” from Shinra Corporation. Now, Square Enix has revealed some new gameplay details for Yuffie’s outing along with the official name for her DLC exclusive to the PS5.

As reported by Gameinformer, Square Enix has revealed that the official name for the Yuffie DLC content exclusive to Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is called INTERmission, and we all more or less know who’s responsible for that title. Moving right along, Square Enix also broke down some of Yuffie’s combat abilities, which will offer a nice refreshing take on the established gameplay from the original game. Yuffie is of course armed with a large throwing star ability, which can be used with her Elemental Ninjutsu ability to imbue the long-ranged attack with fire, ice, lightning or wind elements, perfect for targeting an opponent’s specific weaknesses.

Shown above is another of Yuffie’s combat abilities. Called Banishment, the ability’s damage scales depending on how much of the ATB gauge was spent prior to its use. Like Yuffie’s throwing star ability, Banishment can be imbued with different elements courtesy of the Elemental Ninjutsu ability. Another of Yuffie’s abilities is called Windstorm, which creates – you guessed it – a sizable gust of wind that does AOE damage within the targeted area. Unlike the last two abilities, Windstorm is locked to wind damage.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be releasing for PS5 on June 10, 2021. Those that own the original PS4 version of the game can upgrade to the PS5 version for free, though Yuffie’s INTERmission DLC will still need to be purchased for $19.99. Those looking to purchase Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PS5 can do so for $69.99 for the standard edition and $89.99 for the digital deluxe edition.
