WATCH: Hilarious Episode Ignis Video Features Insane Combat Cooking Skills

New Episode Ignis video

It is well known at this point that of the four main characters in Final Fantasy XV, Ignis is the one that does all the cooking. From stinky tofu to Cup Noodles with behemoth meat, Ignis’ recipe repertoire has only expanded as time goes by, as Square Enix adds more content to its latest entry in the Final Fantasy series. With the latest Episode Ignis DLC arriving in less than a week, it appears that the titular character’s cooking station is getting a bit, well…mobile. Check out the latest Episode Ignis video below to get a look at some of Ignis’ combat cooking skills.

As previously revealed by Square Enix, Ignis’ skillset for the most part revolves around some flashy dagger-work, though FFXV’s resident chef has a few tricks up his sleeve. The first move featured in the new Episode Ignis video is called Overclock, which allows Ignis to imbue his daggers with elemental properties. It is currently unknown whether or not the available elements will have different effects on enemies, or if the different options are just for show. For his next trick, Ignis makes like Aranea and busts out a spear, which he uses with the iconic High Jump ability to punish individual enemies. The skill serves as a gap closer and also allows him to avoid enemy attacks for the brief time he is up in the air.

Last but not least, Ignis is also able to use the “Quick Recipeh” ability at seemingly any point in combat. Ignis shows us why he is the best chef in Eos by preparing both food and drink while seemingly getting attacked by enemies all the while. The effects these meals provide Ignis are likely a souped-up (haha) version of the benefits gained by preparing meals at campfires and hotels throughout the main campaign of Final Fantasy XV. Ignis just happens to be preparing said meals while being shot it.

During the video we are also treated to the new Apocalypsis Magnatus track by Yoko Shimomura, which plays during the battle between Ignis and Noctis, as part of the ‘Extra Battle’ feature that arrives alongside the Episode Ignis DLC. Episode Ignis arrives on December 13, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
