Fan Film Shows Off Cable Before Deadpool 2 (VIDEO)

When Deadpool premiered in theaters earlier this year, fans who waited after the credits received an unexpected, but definitely welcome, bit of information about the film’s sequel. In true fourth wall fashion, Deadpool recreated the infamous Ferris Bueller’s Day Off post-credits scene, inquired why the audience stayed after the credits, and then nonchalantly revealed that X-Men mutant Cable would be appearing in the followup film.

Deadpool is of course known in his extensive history in comics for his fast-paced humor and fourth wall breaking-antics. A 2004-2008 series of comics paired Deadpool with his former enemy, Cable, the time-displaced, cyborg, mutant son of Cyclops and Madeline Pryor. The Cable & Deadpool series grew popular with readers due to the manic comedy of Deadpool contrasting the battle-hardened, no-nonsense style Cable embodied. This beloved pairing coming to life on the big screen now has fans of the original Deadpool film even more eager for its release.

Cable and Deadpool

Fans now have a taste of what live-action Cable could potentially look like, as K&K Productions on YouTube have released a short live-action fan film featuring Cable, as he protects Hope Summers, The Mutant Messiah, from The Purifiers, a mutant-killing militia. The short film stars Icelandic actor Solvi Fannar as Cable (with Patrick Girts providing the voice) and showcases the character’s weaponry, cybornetic prostheses and prowess in hand-to-hand combat. We also get two quick appearances from X-men characters that have been previously seen in the live-action X-men films, which I won’t spoil. Definitely give the lovely fanfilm, seen below, a watch.

I, for one, am now even more excited to see Cable officially make his big screen debut. However, we may be in for even more of a delay to hear who will be cast as Cable, as this was one of the factors that reportedly caused director Tim Miller to leave Deadpool 2, as we reported earlier here. Nonetheless, like Cable himself, we have to believe that a future where Cable’s live action debut is a joy to behold can still be written. But what future do you see, dear reader? Are you excited for Deadpool 2? Do you think this fanfilm accurately portrayed Cable? Let us know in the comments below!
