Elder Scrolls Legends Fans (Politely) Upset About Four-Legged Dragons in Expansion
At some point during Bethesda’s unofficial ploy to get The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim onto every gaming platform known to man, the developer took a step back and decided to inject their collectible card game Elder Scrolls: Legends with some Skyrim-goodness as well. Enter Heroes of Skyrim, the game’s first major expansion available on June 29, adding over 150 cards into the main game. Not everyone is happy about some of the new cards, though; Some Elder Scrolls Legends fans have banded together to point out some glaring lore-related issues with some of the cards. Take the Wildfire Dragon card below, for example:
While it may appear to be a normal Dragon to the passing eye, some Elder Scrolls Legends fans are taking notice of a pretty big error within the artwork of the card. According to Reddit user ShiaLePork via the Legends subreddit, the above card’s issue is that it depicts the Wildfire Dragon as having four legs, despite dragons within the Elder Scrolls universe typically having two legs, with wings serving as the dragon’s front appendages. The only time a dragon with four legs has been seen within the Elder Scrolls universe is when Daedric Prince Peryite chooses to appear in the form of one, though this is only to mock them.
ShiaLePork has also pointed out some issues with two other cards within the game’s upcoming expansion. One of the cards is called “Dova of the Voice”. According to Shia, the spelling on the card is incorrect – It should either be “Dovah of the Voice” or “Dov of the Voice”. While not absolutely certain which of these spellings are correct, he knows that “Dova” is completely wrong, and as such suggests that the spelling be changed.
The next card Shia looks into is the Alduin card. Making Alduin the World Eater into a card sounds like it would be pretty awesome to have. Unfortunately, the dragon depicted on the card looks absolutely nothing like him. Yet again, four legs are depicted on a dragon. Even taking the two legs away, though, it still looks “nothing like the (numerous) depictions of Alduin that surround anything to do with Skyrim,” according to Shia. He also mentions that the artwork on the card looks nothing like his Alduin statue, either. Looking at my own statue, he has a point. Both the “Dova of the Voice” and “Alduin” cards can be seen below.
So, what are your thoughts on the lore mistakes made with the Heroes of Skyrim expansion? Do you think the Elder Scrolls Legends fans have a point? Should the artwork (and spelling) be changed before the game is released?
