EA Issues New, And Weirdly Evasive, Statement Concerning Cancelled Star Wars Game

It’s safe to say, no one is sure what EA is doing right now. Following the surprising announcement pertaining to the cancellation of an open-world Star Wars game, which was being developed by Visceral Games before their untimely shut-down. However, as a “natural part of the creative process,” the team in Vancouver, Canada will take over any related video game development and they’re excited to see what the future holds.

EA says they are “committed to making more Star Wars games,” and the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is on its way. Nevertheless, fans are none too happy, especially since the company they axed Visceral and took them under their wing. The franchise is one beloved by a great following, so the news was welcomed with transparent disdain. Thanks to Kotaku, there’s been a follow-up statement since the announced cancellation:

It reads: “There’s been speculation overnight about one of our Star Wars projects. As a natural part of the creative process, the great work by our team in Vancouver continues and will evolve into future content and games. We’re fully committed to making more Star Wars games, we’re very excited about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from Respawn, and we’ll share more about our new projects when the time is right.”

The obviously vague phrasing speaks volumes. It’s certainly not a denial statement, but making grand statements right now may not in EA’s best interest at this time. Codenamed “Orca,” the game was fairly early in its development stages and it’s hard saying how far the team intended to take it in the first place. The report reads:
