Coming off of the exciting reveal of Microsoft’s newest console, the Xbox One X, Bandai Namco took the hype and ran with it, unveiling a brand new Code Vein trailer with a caption saying that the game would be enhanced for Microsoft’s upcoming system. Returning from the high that has been the massive success that is the Dark Souls series, Bandai Namco looks to be taking all it has learned on ‘soulslike’ games thus far, and has assigned the God Eater team to take all that experience and make their vision a reality. This reality just so happens to resemble Bloodborne, but with anime vampires.  Anyway, check out the new E3 Code Vein trailer below:

Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lot of ‘new’ to be found in the E3 Code Vein trailer. Bandai Namco more or less used footage from the game’s very first trailer and then added exactly 15 seconds onto the footage, excluding the fiery logo at the end. That said, the game is a soulslike with vampires, so we’ll take it! In the rather brief last 15 seconds, viewers were given a glimpse of a frozen landscape, which provides a stark contrast to the post-apocalyptic urban setting that has shown up in most of the game’s released footage thus far. Viewers also got a glimpse of a few never before seen characters and enemies, ranging from ‘stoic greatsword-wielding hero looking off into the distance’ to an armor-clad warrior wearing way too many masks on his face.

Aside from the new footage seen in the trailer, Bandai Namco has also released some new Code Vein details on their website, including information on the equippable weapons. They also provided a glimpse into what appears to be a choose-your-own-story type of setup where players create their own custom characters and then choose from several different companions, each equipped with their own background story and combat style.
