New Castlevania Netflix Series Announced Featuring Richter Belmont

The fourth and final season of Netflix’s Castlevania animated series has finally reached the streaming service, bringing with it the end to the immediate tales of Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belandes, and Alucard. As has been previously reported, though, Powerhouse Animation seems to have more in store for its fans, as it’s been announced that a brand new Castlevania animated series is in the works that will feature a brand new cast of characters.

As reported by Deadline, the new Castlevania series is now in development in partnership between Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation, and will premiere exclusively on Netflix. The new series will chiefly be centered on vampire killer Richter Belmont – canonically a descendent of Trevor and Sypha – and co-star Maria Renard, a young spellcaster. The show will take place in 1792 against the backdrop of the French Revolution.

While the first Netflix series took inspiration from Castlevania III, this new series featuring Richter Belmont will quite likely be based on Rondo of Blood, the game that also takes place in 1792 and features the aforementioned pair of characters. Aside from his more recent debut as an echo fighter for Simon Belmont, fans may most easily recognize Richter from the famous opening dialogue of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, where players are tasked with defeating Dracula as Richter during the game’s prologue. Miserable little pile of secrets, indeed.

Netflix’s new Castlevania animated series is now in development.
