Former Dragon Age Director Announces Departure From Ubisoft
Known for his acclaimed career at BioWare for properties such as Jade Empire, Mass Effect, and most notably creative director for the Dragon Age series, Mike Laidlaw announces his departure from another prominent studio. After leaving BioWare to pursue another position at Ubisoft Quebec, Laidlaw reveals he’ll be leaving the studio having put in just over a year. He said on Twitter:
Quick update from me!
Today (Jan 31st) is my last day with Ubisoft. Huge thanks to the talented and welcoming folks at Ubisoft Quebec City for my time there.
Now to take stock and figure out what’s next!

Laidlaw was a veteran developer at BioWare of 15 years, dedicating his craft to nurturing wonderful IPs like Dragon Age as lead designer for the first game and creative director for the rest. He’s had a fruitful career in the games industry and after lending his wealth of knowledge to Ubisoft for an “unnamed project,” he’s on the lookout for more opportunities ahead!
For now, he’s going to “take stock and figure out what’s next!”As huge fans of his work, we wish Laidlaw the best of luck in his future pursuits! Wherever he heads, there’s no doubt fantastic opportunities await!
