DOTA 2’s ‘The Dueling Fates’ Update Gets A Release Date (VIDEO)

DOTA 2: The Dueling Fates

After a six month-long hiatus since its last major update, Valve’s DOTA 2 is finally getting some new content. Announced earlier this summer, DOTA 2’s upcoming patch titled ‘The Dueling Fates’ will see the arrival of two new characters to Steam’s most popular MOBA. Valve took to the game’s official Twitter account to announce the release date of The Dueling Fates, November 1.

As previously mentioned, The Dueling Fates update is bringing two new playable characters to the second most popular game on Steam, both of whom made their first appearance in a teaser video shown during DOTA 2’s International 7 tournament. The two new playable characters are Sylph, a mischievous-looking purple fairy creature, and a sword-wielding pangolin that appears to be a cross between Zorro and Puss-in-Boots. While the introduction to Sylph was rather brief, the intro to the swashbuckling pangolin was anything but, as he skillfully fights his way through the droves of enemies before him. There isn’t much else known about either new character other than what can be gleaned from the trailer released a few months prior, which can be viewed below.

The Dueling Fates update could not have come at a better time. With the last major update to DOTA 2 having been released half a year ago things have gotten rather stagnant, with the developer only releasing the occasional balance patch here and there to reel in over-performing characters. This lull in new content has led to DOTA 2 being dethroned as Steam’s #1 game for most concurrent players at one time, with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds taking the top spot and skyrocketing past the MOBA in numbers.
