Valve Announces New Dota Card Game ‘Artifact’ With a Teaser Trailer (VIDEO)

During the 2017 International Dota 2 Championship tournament, Valve announced a Dota spin-off card game called Artifact and along with it came a teaser trailer, which can be seen below. The video doesn’t reveal much aside from a handful of gems and stones panning left and right that eventually morphs into the fragmented, golden triangle logo.

Brad Muir, a former developer at Double Fine for Massive Chalice, Brutal Legend, Iron Brigade, and many others was one of the creative minds behind Artifact. While Muir didn’t reveal anymore about the game itself, or when interested gamers can expect more details, the game is slated to debut in 2018. However, he did reveal that this was project he had been “working on for a while now”. No official or tentative release date was announced either. According to a report, the host of the International Dota 2 Championship, Sean “Day9” Plott, described its vague objectives of “building barracks, creeps, and lanes”.

It also involves three boards and characters to choose from within the Dota franchise. It sounds a lot like a card-game version of Dota already, but with as little to go on as that Artifact could be anything. Undoubtedly, people are already making comments about possible similarities to Hearthstone. Currently, there’s no official website, but for those curious about what the developers behind this new card game may be up to in the near future, check out their Twitter page.
