Square Enix Reveals Story Details for Final Fantasy XV’s Episode Gladiolus DLC
Square Enix certainly hasn’t slowed down since their recent celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy series. New and exciting details for multiple different games within the iconic series are popping up all over the place lately. On the MMORPG front, Final Fantasy XIV has recently wrapped their Fan Festival 2017 in Frankfurt, revealing to the world that the new Samurai class would be arriving alongside the previously announced Red Mage class in FFXIV‘s latest expansion, Stormblood. On the Final Fantasy XV front, the retro spinoff A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV, which was initially a GameStop pre-order perk, will be available for free when it releases on March 1st. And then there’s the Nissin Cup Noodle Hat DLC. We’ll let you click on the link to learn more about that one. The most recent nugget of news comes from the Final Fantasy XV website itself, and it reveals some new story information on the upcoming Episode Gladiolus DLC, which is set to arrive on March 28. Minor story spoilers below.
Now, we already know that Gladio sets off on his own once Noctis and friends arrive at the Lighthouse with Gladio’s sister, Iris. He leaves his friends with no explanation, just that he has something he needs to do. Thanks to the details that were previously announced at the 30th anniversary celebration, we know that Cor Leonis of the Crownsguard was set to accompany Gladio on his venture. Now, with the new information revealed on the FFXV site, we know that Gladio goes off to train with Cor in order to become stronger.
“Picking up from the events from the group’s encounter with Ravus, Gladio leaves the group to train alongside Cor and become even more powerful. He sets on a path to face challenges by encountering larger than life monsters along the way.”
So, now we know why he leaves, though we still don’t know the outcome. That said, those of you that played through the game may remember that Gladio’s reappearance later in the chapter didn’t exactly reveal anything exciting, he was simply gone for a while. There wasn’t exactly an obvious increase in his strength, either. Perhaps he gained some inner-strength, or a boost in confidence. We’ll be able to find out when the Episode Gladiolus DLC drops late next month. In the meantime, check out some concept art from the DLC to hold you over:
