Destiny 2’s Next Expansion Officially Announced, Name And Release Date Revealed
With Bungie’s latest entry into the Destiny franchise still fighting an uphill battle, progress is being made on all fronts. From bringing in specialists to handle post-game content, to bringing fresh goodies for all to enjoy to the title, the studio certainly wants to make sure that players are receiving the best possible experience. That being said, they’ve just announced Destiny 2’s next expansion, what it is called, and when it will arrive.
The next expansion will be called Warmind, “and it will send you to new places to meet new heroes and battle new enemies.” In addition to revealing the name of Destiny 2’s next expansion, they’ve also provided a release date: May 8th. This also happens to be when Season 3 will begin. Furthermore, they’ve provided a deeper look into what they’ll be working on over the coming months. Check out the updated roadmap below:
Bungie also elaborated on how Crucible content will be released moving forward. For more about that, here’s what they said:
“Season Three marks the beginning of a new plan for how we deliver Crucible content. For every player of Destiny 2, we’ll be releasing all of the new Crucible Maps being developed for Warmind into matchmaking. The same goes for the maps we released with Curse of Osiris. To keep the community in the Crucible unified, everyone will see new arenas in matchmade playlists like Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, as well as the new weekly rotators that include Rumble and Mayhem. That means more opponents for everyone. With the arrival of Private Matches, players will need to purchase each Expansion to have exclusive access to play those Crucible maps with other players in a private match. This plan goes into effect on May 8 with the beginning of Season Three.”
Even though the details about Destiny 2’s next expansion are rather limited at this time, players won’t have to wait very long to learn more. Bungie will be hosting a reveal stream on April 24th, so we can expect to learn all of the glorious information we need right then and there.
