Destiny 2 Developer Talks Nintendo Switch Port – “Pretty Unrealistic”
The official reveal for the second installment in the Destiny franchise hit the public yesterday with a lot of details about what Bungie has improved and what new features will come to the game. The Destiny 2 developer also touched on whether or not they would port over to the Nintendo Switch. Needless to say, the news may not be good for those who only own the latest Nintendo console.
I think it’s pretty unrealistic, given we’re an online-only game, right? The Switch, because it’s a portable – and I love my Switch, I’ve got Breath of the Wild here, I’ve got it with me. It’s incredible, I love the console, but in terms of where it’s at, I don’t want to leave anyone with the possibility of, like, ‘it’s a thing we’ll consider, maybe next year.’ There’s no plans right now for Switch.”
This comes from Mark Noseworthy, in an interview with IGN, who is the project lead for the game. The Destiny 2 developer isn’t planning on a release for the Switch, however, it was confirmed that a PC version will be available exclusively from the Blizzard App. This development will bring in a new wave of players who will have plenty of graphics options, including a wide array of resolutions and unlocked frame rates.
Overall the news is good from the Destiny 2 developer, even though a lack of Switch port may be disappointing for some. With new weapon systems, plans for consistent updates and content, and greater interest from Bungie to bring in new players – there is bound to be plenty of awesome things to come on September 8th when the game releases to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (PC date has yet to be confirmed).
Is the decision from the Destiny 2 developer to exclude the Switch a good move on their part? Join in on the conversation in the comment section below! Don’t forget to follow DFTG on Twitter for live gaming and entertainment news 24/7!
