Infamous Comic Writer Brian Michael Bendis Jumps Ship From Marvel To DC
Some of Marvel Comics’ best stories of the last decade have come from writer Brian Michael Bendis. The writer is responsible for such arcs as Ultimate Spider-Man, House of H, Secret Invasion, Powers, and Spider-Men. As a writer for Marvel he has been praised for his dynamic storytelling, and now he will lend his craft to DC Comics, ushering in a new era for the latter.
In a move that has shocked the comic book world, DC made the announcement on Twitter, which reads as follows:
We are beyond thrilled to welcome Brian Michael Bendis exclusively to the DC family with a multiyear, multi-faceted deal. He’s one of the premier writers in the industry having created so many unforgettable stories wherever he’s been, and we can’t wait to see what he has planned for the DC Universe.”
Brian Michael Bendis later retweeted:
This is real. I love you all. Change is good. Change is healthy. I am bursting with ideas and inspirations. Details to come! Stay tuned! https://t.co/S1x5JDmGTt

Bendis will be writing exclusively for DC Comics in the coming years, but this won’t be his first run at DC. In 2000, he wrote a story for Batman Chronicles #21 titled Citizen Wayne. The story involved Clark Kent (Superman) on an investigative journey to discover and reveal Bruce Wayne/Batman’s darkest secrets. With his gripping storytelling abilities Bendis is sure to bring big changes to the DC Universe.
The writer can be accredited to creating Marvel characters Jessica Jones, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Quake, and Maria Hill, who has been portrayed by Cobie Smulders in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The move to DC will allow him to take on a whole new set of established characters as well as create some new ones. Maybe even a future Justice League member. Which projects Bendis will be working on first has yet to be announced, but rest assured that when DFTG knows, you will know.
