Avowed Obsidian RPG Reportedly "Much, Much Larger Than Skyrim"

This past week’s Xbox Games Showcase featured a lot of exciting game reveals alongside fresh looks at already established titles, like Halo: Infinite. One of the more out-of-nowhere reveals was that of Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment’s new RPG that gave off some serious Skyrim vibes with its cinematic trailer. Speaking of Skyrim, it has been recently reported that Avowed will be significantly larger than Bethesda’s popular open-word title.

The report comes by way of Resetera member Sponger (H/T: Primagames), who recently detailed some of what to expect from Avowed. According to them, the game will be “much, much larger than Skyrim,” though Sponger goes on to clarify that the more proper wording would be “denser” and “more contrasted” at the same time.

Avowed is said to be set in the same world as Pillars of Eternity, and as such there’s a lot to include in the game and plenty to build on. According to Sponger, Avowed will primarily take place in The Living Lands region of Eora and have a large focus on “world-reactivity, lighting and next-gen AI systems and physics.” All in all, if Obsidian pulls this off we’ll have an impress contender for The Elder Scrolls VI, which is reportedly still years away. It’ll be interesting to see how the development of one affects the other, if at all.

Avowed is currently in development for Xbox Series X and PC.
