Avengers: Infinity War Release Moved To Next Month, Marvel Schedules 6 New Movies

Infinity War Release

The epic culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe begins this summer when the Avengers: Infinity War release date finally arrives and fans are decidedly pumped for the amount of spectacle that promise could entail. Thanos was set to wreak havoc on the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes this coming May, but now it looks as though the Mad Titan will instead arrive a little earlier than expected.

According to Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War is moving up its release into cinemas from May 4th to the new date of April 27th. That means the Avengers’ next adventure will hit theaters a whole seven days early, making the US release more-or-less line up with most of the world’s other territories. The announcement came prepared with an updated poster for the movie, which cleverly utilizes the Avengers symbol for the new release date. Check it out below.

The Avengers’ upcoming battle wasn’t the only release date in the news, as new films have also been added to Marvel Studios’ upcoming schedule. The lineup for Phase 4 provides updates to six unknown films releasing from 2021 to 2022, continuing the pattern of putting out three movies per year. Check out the list below.

A change to the Infinity War release could be attributed to a number of things. Protecting spoilers could be a reason, as a near-simultaneous premiere in theaters would be a good way of keeping surprise plot elements from leaking out early. It could also be the June release of “Deadpool 2” that has Marvel feeling nervous, the move being an attempt to keep their distance from a potential thunder-stealing release.

As for the new Phase 4 dates, speculating each of the unknown films is completely up in the air, especially with such a high-stakes event as Infinity War still yet to happen. The record-breaking success of Black Panther makes a sequel very likely, and the king of Wakanda could easily snag one of these spots. We can also expect sequels for Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, and another Guardians of the Galaxy at some point, but there’s also endless possibilities for an all new hero to make their debut.
