The Astronauts Co-Founder Claims Xbox One X Won’t Be Hurt By Lack of Exclusives

The Xbox One X launched late last year, bringing the Xbox platform into the world of native 4K gaming for the first time. The newest version of the console has seen 4K support for many previously released games that span a variety of genres, but some have pointed out that there are no true-exclusive titles that only work with the Xbox One X. However, The Astronauts co-founder Adrian Chmielarz has recently spoken out to calm these worries and posit a thought on the lack of exclusives.

Adrian Chmielarz of The Astronauts, best known for being the team behind The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, recently spoke with GamingBolt about the Xbox One X and its lack of exclusives. According to Chmielarz, the Xbox One X won’t be damaged terribly by having no titles of its own. He believes that a big reason for this is because the system is set up to make scaling down for games on the standard Xbox One and One S rather easy. As Chmielarz put it:

Most games can scale down from Xbox One X to Xbox One, e.g. by using LOD on characters earlier, having lower res, using simpler path-finding, etc. I’ve never seen a game that couldn’t be done on a weaker version of the current gen console.”

It seems that Microsoft sought to make the 4K gaming platform accessible, while still leaving an out for those wanting a wider audience to play their games. While it might seem like a boon for sales if exclusive games are on the new console, perhaps the balance of making games accessible across all Xbox One versions might be best for the fight against PlayStation and Nintendo.
