Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Post-Launch Roadmap Revealed (VIDEO)
Earlier today, Ubisoft confirmed the existence of the rumored Assassin’s Creed Odyssey ‘Atlantis’ DLC, under the title of The Fate of Atlantis. With the proverbial cat finally out of the bag, the publisher has released a roadmap for the massive amount of content fans can expect from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey post-launch. The roadmap is broken down and handily explained in a newly released video, which can be seen below:
As revealed in the video by game director Scott Phillips, the October 5th launch date for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is just the beginning. Ubisoft is moving forward with an episodic format for post-launch content, which kicks off when the first story arc, ‘Legacy of the First Blade,’ arrives in December 2018. According to Phillips, the Legacy story arc is split up into three different episodes, with each one releasing roughly six weeks after the last. As such, fans can choose to partake in the episodic content as it is released, or wait until all three episodes of the arc are out and do it all in one go. The same structure goes for the game’s second post-launch story arc, titled ‘The Fate of Atlantis,’ with the first episode arriving in Spring 2019. Here’s the breakdown of both story arcs, courtesy of Ubisoft:
“Odyssey’s first major piece of story-based post-launch content, Legacy of the First Blade, introduces players to the first person to ever use the Hidden Blade, forever altering history. Launching in December, Legacy of the First Blade will reveal more about the history that led to the formation of the Assassins. Then, in spring 2019, The Fate of Atlantis, the second story arc, will set players against mythic creatures while they uncover the mysteries of the fabled sunken city of Atlantis. Each story arc will launch as a series of episodic adventures, with new episodes releasing approximately every six weeks.”
While six weeks between each episode drop may seem like a long wait, the game’s post-launch roadmap also includes free content for all players, regardless of whether or not they have a Season Pass. According to Phillips, ‘The Lost Tales of Greece’ is headlining the free content, which contains “free quests featuring familiar faces and new characters from the world of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.” If that’s not enough, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will also receive recurring in-game events that will introduce new epic ships, mercenaries, and mythical creatures each week. Between that and the newly announced New Game Plus mode, fans will have plenty to do once the game launches.
In addition to the episodic content contained within each story arc, all Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Season Pass owners will receive Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, which follows Connor Kenway as he fights his way through the American Revolution.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 5th, 2018.
