Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Confirmed by Ubisoft, First Details Leaked (VIDEO)

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

UPDATE: Since this article was written, Ubisoft has confirmed the leak as true.

Original story below:

As learned in an earlier story, the world-spanning Brotherhood of Assassins are all-but-confirmed to be on their way to Ancient Greece in a new game Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. This leak of information was apparently backed up recently with the appearance of some especially official-looking merchandise. It seems details regarding Ubisoft’s forthcoming adventure refuse to stay hidden as new Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gameplay information has now also potentially leaked.

According to Kotaku, Odyssey will follow in the RPG footsteps of 2017’s Egyptian-set Origins, but will be “even more of a drastic departure” for the new Greek setting. One of the most notable additions that Odyssey will supposedly bring is the inclusion of dialogue options, similar to BioWare’s massively popular Mass Effect and Dragon Age series’.

The reported departures/BioWare comparisons don’t end there, as players are also said to have the choice between male and female protagonists. Players of Assassin’s Creed Origins were treated with playing as the protagonists Bayek and Aya, but the upcoming game will supposedly offer wholly new heroes to kick off the Ancient Greece setting.

The report suggests 2019 may be the year the game actually sees release, specifically before the fiscal year ends on March 31st 2019. Of course, the game could also make a stealth arrival well before that date, opting to launch in their usual spot before the Holiday season. As tends to happen with speculation, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Kotaku confirms to have corroborated several of their sources about these new details, but however convincing, fans should likely leave it to Ubisoft to confirm any of the above information. With E3 2018 on it’s way in only a few week’s time, these Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gameplay details won’t be completely up in the air for very long.
