Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Features A “Black Panther” Easter Egg

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is set in Ancient Greece during the time of the Pelopennesian war and as such is far removed from Africa and the fictional home of the Black Panther, Wakanda. That doesn’t seem to have stopped the title from making a neat reference to the incredible Marvel film. Among the plethora of Easter eggs the game holds, this is one that replicates one of the more memorable scenes within Black Panther.

The reference in question is found within the Gortyn Watefall located in the Messera location. Atop the waterfall lies a pool that two men can be seen fighting in as a crowd cheers them on. This of course looks incredibly similar to the scenes in Black panther which feature T’Challa fighting for the title of Wakanda’s King.

A recent video shows off a side by side comparison of both the Black Panther film and the in-game footage. At first Kassandra uses her feathered companion, Ikaros, to scout out the waterfall and later the heroine herself climbs up to get closer view and crack some skulls. It might not be Wakanda but the similarities are close enough to definitively say the fight is an Easter egg.

Since the team at IGN doesn’t allow video sharing, we couldn’t actually share the video here but you can check it out for yourself to see the similarities right here!

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The massive game is quite impressive, being one of the biggest and best the franchise has to offer. Will you be taking exploring Greece during the Pelopennesian war for yourself?
