Respawn Bans Over 16,000 Apex Legends Cheaters In Under 10 Days

Apex Legends

Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends has seen quite a lot of success since its surprise launch just this month. As with any online experience however the game hasn’t been without its issues, particularly when it comes to cheaters and hackers. Thankfully, Respawn is fully aware of the throngs of cheaters flocking to the fresh new Battle Royale experience and are making steps to ensure players have a more fair time within the game.

The community manager at Respawn recently sent out an update on Reddit concerning the status of Apex Legends. The post states the developers are aware of the different types of cheaters within the game and have banned over 16,000 of them since launch – and that’s just getting started.

As of today over 16,000 cheaters have been identified and banned from the game. Cheaters suck. If you run into one, please try and capture the evidence and let us know here. Even if you don’t get proof, get their ID and flag it and we can investigate the account. We have heard your feedback about a report feature in the game. I’ll just say that’s a very good idea.”

16,000 may not seem like much yet, but with the massive influx of players flocking to the game in such a short period of time the amount is still fairly impressive. The post asks that players help out the developers where they can finding at the very least the in-game ID so that they can look into the issue themselves. Of course any and all information that a player can gather would be best; whether it’s some footage of the event in question or a detailed description of what transpired.

Apex Legends is available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Have you run across any cheaters while playing? Let us know your thoughts on Respawn’s tactics against cheaters and more in the comments section below.
