Could Anthem VR Be On The Way From BioWare?

Anthem VR

Anthem is the upcoming sci-fi multiplayer action-RPG from publisher EA and developer BioWare. With the latter being well versed in the genre, it would seem that the title is in good hands. However, with Mass Effect: Andromeda taking a few bumps and bruises along the way and EA being involved in all sorts of controversy, it leaves many wondering if the game will actually end up being any good. It was revealed some time ago that the developer had quite a bit in store for the unreleased game’s future, but could Anthem VR be part of the plan?

A recent photo taken by BioWare writer Jay Watamaniuk could indicate that this is entirely possible. While at a party that the developer was hosting, Watamaniuk snapped a picture that seemed innocent enough. That is, of course, until one eagle-eyed Redditor noticed something in the background. Check out the original tweet, followed by the zoomed-in photo below:

It would appear that there was a section at the BioWare party called “Anthem VR.” It was unknown whether or not this meant that the developer was working on a virtual reality version of their upcoming game, or if it was something else entirely that was meant for party attendees. Unfortunately, according to Reddit user ninj4, it seems that the experience was simply meant for those in attendance. Here’s their reply to DolphinTeethXXL’s initial post:

Got a chance to try it. It was a cool experience but no, it was internal staff only and not something meant to be shipped. But who knows, maybe if it gets enough demand they’ll make a promotional experience or something.”

While it seems that BioWare isn’t actively working on bringing the upcoming action RPG into the VR realm, the future may hold a surprise or two. Who knows, maybe they’ll consider it if enough gamers show interest. Until then, we’ll just wait around to hear what exactly was going down at that BioWare shindig.

Anthem is expected to arrive in Fall 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news, check out the following:
