New Anthem Roadmap Teases Exciting Post-Launch Content Ahead

Anthem has officially launched for worldwide consumption! The latest BioWare game published by Electronic Arts is a action-RPG that mashes together science fiction and fantasy, both of which are genres the aforementioned studio might know a little something about. It’s a momentous occasion where BioWare steps away from the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchise into an all-new world, and the developers are stoked to see people experience the game and for the road ahead.

Head of Anthem ‘s live services, Chad Robertson, begins with a note to the gaming community ready to enter an entirely different world. According to Robertson, the launch only marks the beginning of an exciting journey ahead. In a blog, he writes:

Coming off our Early Access period, we understand that we have lots of work ahead of us to continue to improve the game. As a Live Service team, a core tenet for us is listening hard to the community. We use that insight to fix issues and make Quality of Life fixes to the game. Our most recent patch – the one you are playing now — reflects your feedback. You can see the list of changes here. Many came from listening to you. Beyond that, we have a growing list of improvements we’re evaluating for the future. You’ll start seeing the next of those this coming week.

While launch is our most significant step yet, it is also just the first of many in fulfilling our long-term vision for the game.

I look at today from two perspectives. As a gamer, I’m excited by what we’ve created with Anthem and the promise it carries for a long future behind the game’s lush world, immersive lore, rich characters, and core gameplay. As a developer, I know we’ve worked hard to strike a balance of engaging BioWare story combined with fun action-gameplay and multi-player progression; I also know how much more we want to bring to the game.

To add to that, Robertson tells the community: “Anthem’s launch represents a commitment we’re taking to you: we’re just getting started.” That’s some powerful stuff right there! Here’s to hoping BioWare creates just the right amount of anticipation and expectation for Anthem. Furthermore, there’s a brand new roadmap that shows off their plans for the next 90 days after the game’s launch. There will be recurring updates featuring regular fixes, adjustments and optimizations, weekly alliance coin, and challenges that span daily, weekly, and monthly timelines.

Outlined here, BioWare has grand plans all the way through May and that’s just the first season or, as they call it, their first act. From freeplay events, legendary missions, stronghold, guilds, cosmetics, and rewards, there’s plenty of secrets they plan on revealing in the near future!

What do you think about BioWare’s 90-day plan for Anthem? Do you think these are ambitious enough for a triple-A studio or are the plans too vague to tell just yet? Let us know what you think in the comments section below or start a conversation on Don’t Feed the Gamers Facebook page.
