Andromeda Multiplayer Maps DLC Will Be Playable Free of Charge – “Just Like ME3”
A steady stream of information has been coming out for Mass Effect: Andromeda and fans are eating it up! Among the tidbits is info regarding the multiplayer function for the new title. The latest bit has come from a conversation on the Twitter account of BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn. The news is that the Andromeda multiplayer DLC is free to play, not unlike how it was in Mass Effect 3.
The question came from a fan who noted that EA has in some cases charged for maps, such as in Battlefield 1, while Mass Effect 3 featured free maps. Knowing what to expect going in would be great for fans who are interested in the multiplayer function. Flynn let fans know that Andromeda multiplayer DLC would be “just like ME3”.
It's going to be just like ME3

The maps being released will be free to play, which is fantastic news, however there will still be completely voluntary micro-transactions within the game. Again, voluntary – meaning not necessary to enjoy the MP experience. The recently announced loot boxes fit into the Andromeda multiplayer DLC in that they can influence your single-player pathfinder but how they fit into the multiplayer upgrades is still unknown.
A great deal of news has been streaming lately but just enough to keep our mouth watering. We would say this is a pretty effective strategy from BioWare. That the team is taking the time to interact with fans says a great deal about how much they’ve listened, and are listening to what fans want. If nothing else, it is certainly helping build excitement!
While fans are enjoying the speculation and surprises, it seems as though the developers are also enjoying the interactions as well. The genuine enthusiasm from the creators and community makes this much-anticipated game that much more exciting. With only two weeks to go before launch, this already incredibly hyped addition to the franchise is showing to be a feature rich and likely amazing next chapter in the series. The addition of the free Andromeda multiplayer DLC maps makes things that much sweeter!
