Metro Exodus Fans Are Using Steam to Attack Epic Games Store’s Exclusive Deal
Fans haven’t been the most accepting about Deep Silver’s deal to place Metro Exodus exclusively on the Epic Games Store. Despite the move’s apparent lack of caveats, it seems a large section of the Metro fanbase refuses to let this perceived betrayal go. Following a mass review bomb of other games in the series, it seems fan anger has now taken a much different approach, namely taking to Steam to sing the praises of Metro Exodus.
As the Epic Games Store has yet to implement user reviews, players have review-bombed Metro Exodus on Steam; not with negative reviews, but positive ones. Thousands of Steam reviews have praised aspects such as visuals, story, and open world elements, leaving the game with a solid “Very Positive” score. Of course, this wave of positivity wasn’t without the expected digs at Epic Games, with some voicing minor inconvenience and others being decidedly less subtle.
Steam’s current lacking of Metro Exodus isn’t the end of the world, as the atmospheric shooter will eventually make its way to the popular store following Epic Games’ 12-month exclusivity deal. In the meantime, gamers as well as publishers have made their stance known about the emerging platform, from Valve’s feelings of anguish to CD Projekt RED dismissing the idea entirely. World War Z is one of the latest games to announce their debut on the Epic Games Store, feeling confident it would ultimately be beneficial to gamers.
