World Of Warcraft Classic Arrives Next Summer
This year’s BlizzCon festivities commenced with a fantastic start, bringing phenomenal news for Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, and more to the table. There’s even a special edition beer attendees can try out from November 2nd to the 3rd st various stations at the Anaheim Convention Center. Despite the flurry of announcements this year, there’s more in store for WoW fans and that’s the release window for World of Warcraft Classic.
Blizzard offered an exclusive World of Warcraft Classic demo for Virtual Ticket attendees, allowing fans to get ahead of everyone else between November 2nd to the 8th. Seeing as the game won’t launch until next year, it’s more than a year in before the general public can get their hands on it. Revealed during BlizzCon 2018, the gigantic studio revealed that Classic will reemerge Summer 2019.
Exciting news as it may be, Jeff Kaplan has his reservations regarding its upcoming launch. Since last year, the now Overwatch director had a major role in the development of several Warcraft titles including Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos in 2002, and as a WoW quest designer. However, he warns fans to remain “realistic.” Nostalgia often romanticizes what we remember. Kaplan stated before:
I have great nostalgia for what the game was. I think people need to be careful about what they think the magic was versus what it actually was. I don’t think what made the classic servers great was the shitty quests. I’m allowed to say that because I wrote all of them… and then they deleted them all in Cataclysm, that was the ‘hey-Jeff’s-off-the-team’ update!”
It’s certainly a worthwhile note to keep to the side as WoW fans dive back into Classic when it arrives next year. Want to take part in the World of Warcraft Classic demo and see the old game for yourself? Virtual Ticket holders still have time to grab it up right here.
