Wolfenstein 3 Will Happen, Says Bethesda
The rumble and tumble of the Nazi-slaying series will continue its legacy with promise of a Wolfenstein 3 in the future, says Bethesda. Despite its deceiving name, it won’t be the third entry into the franchise, but it’s a thrilling shooting series that began back in the 1980s with Apple and one that will continue to see success in the future. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will be succeeded by the recent reveal of Youngblood, but it’s more of a spin-off than a true sequel.
Speaking to Metro, Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirms Wolfenstein 3 with enthusiasm. Despite the rising concerns of single-player games giving way to multiplayer and the low sales number of Wolfenstein 2 exacerbated by some media outlets, another successor of the Nazi-bashing series will come to fruition. Some may be skeptical after hearing the numbers on Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, but it “did well” for Bethesda and that’s what counts in the end. Admitting it “could have done better,” Hines places any concerns for the Wolfenstein series to rest and stated:
Absolutely we’re making a Wolfenstein 3. They said on stage [at E3] that they’re taking a break from the larger story to do this thing. But we all have to see how that ends.”
As a matter of fact, “two more Wolfenstein games” are in the long-term plans for Bethesda, but they’re a little busy with several bigger properties at this time. This Summer saw the announcements of The Elder Scrolls VI, the reveal of Starfield, and the current work on Fallout 76. There’s a lot happening at various Bethesda locations at this time, and the company asks fans for their patience.
