Jump Force: Yugi Muto From Yu-Gi-Oh Joins The Fight

It’s about to be a fight that breaks the universe. Well, technically it will when Jump Force arrives next year. The multiverse fighting game from Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft is bringing the ultimate showdown between anime characters with reveals from such series as Bleach, Dragon Ball, Hunter x Hunter, and One Piece, but the list can go on. As a matter of fact, the publisher announced that Yu-Gi-Oh’s Yugi Muto will be joining the roster.

In the latest Shonen Jump magazine, Bandai Namco made the surprising reveal of the dueling hero joining the fight. How exactly does that work though? Little else was revealed other than the excerpt below, but one can only imagine that God cards will have something to do with his abilities in Jump Force. Here’s what the official reveal stated:

Joining the roster of Jump Force is Yugi Muto, the hero of Yu-Gi-Oh! Jump Force brings together the greatest heroes and villains from over the 50-year history of Shueisha’s influential Japanese manga Weekly Shonen Jump to fight for the fate of their world and ours.

Yu-Gi-Oh!’s story takes place in a world where a card game: Duel Monsters, is one of the largest aspects of everyday life. The game can bring fortune and fame to its champions, or demise to those less fortunate.

The main protagonist, Yugi Muto, is a lonely boy who loves playing the game but was never blessed with talent. After finding and solving the Millennium Puzzle, an ancient and powerful artefact, Yugi unknowingly became host to Dark Yugi, the spirit of the long deceased Pharaoh Atem. The Pharaoh’s spirit possess and takes control of Yugi in times of danger, he is able to become one of the greatest Duel Monsters players in the world.”

Will there be a Duel Disk involved? Does that mean we’ll see the transformation from the timid Yugi Moto to self-assured Yami? More importantly, will the theme song play in the background? So many questions, but only time will tell.

Out of all the characters revealed for Jump Force so far, what are your thoughts on the roster? Who is your favorite addition – Naruto, Luffy, Rukia?
